Offers of Service (OOS)

We’re searching for OOS!

This is a great opportunity to expand your scouting experience without having to be responsible for your Colony, Pack, or Troop youth.

What's an OOS?

It’s an Offer of Service, another name for a volunteer Scouter or senior youth (Venturers/Rovers) who attend an event to help.

We need your help to plan and run an amazing event for our Colonies, while also providing you with an amazing time!

OOS Overview

Arrival

To ensure we’re ready to start the celebration as soon as our busses full of Beavers arrive, OOS will need to be on-site early!

Transportation

TBD… we’ll be working to see if we can have some early bus pickups around Ottawa, once we know our registration numbers to help you get here!

Pricing

The registration fee for OOS will be $30; in light of the contribution you’ll be making to help run this event, your event fee has been partially subsidized.  Check out our Pricing page for more details.

What will be included with my fee?

We plan to include a lunch to keep you energized, as well as special event swag for the event… including an OOS specific t-shirt and crest!

What will you do?

Once we have our OOS, you may be asked to work in one of the following areas:

    • Activity team; setup and run individual activities
    • Program team; help to run the overall program, virtual campfire
    • Support team; help with ensuring Colonies find their way, help with communication, youth transporting to washrooms
    • Administration team; dot the i’s and cross the t’s, assist the event team
    • Receiption team; help with check-in / arrivals, parking management

What do you expect me to do?

In order to hit the ground running, we’ll start to communicate with our OOS in April.

As part of the Beaver 50th team, you’ll:

    • Complete all required training requirements
    • Attend OOS information sessions to be planned in April
    • Work with teams or alone, depending on your skill and comfort level

Requirements

As a Scouting event, we will require certain requirements to be met in order for an OOS to attend.

Those requirements will differ between Adult and Youth, so please check the charts below.

Adult OOS

  • ZA valid Scouts Canada member, with an active MyScouts record
  • ZCompleted Code of Conduct
  • ZA valid Police Records Check
  • ZA valid active Scouter role
  • ZAttended the required pre-event information sessions

Youth OOS

  • ZA valid Scouts Canada member, with an active MyScouts record
  • ZCompleted Code of Conduct
  • ZThe role explained to them (following registration as OOS)
  • ZAttended the required pre-event information sessions

Non-Scouts Canada Adult OOS will be reviewed individually following your registration, to ensure that you meet the participation requirements.

Youth OOS will not need to complete Respect in Sport or Scouting Fundamenetals, however any active Youth Scouters will be warmly welcomed as well! As youth will be participating in the event with their Colonies and those Scouters, they will be supervised with their youth interactions.

Note: The event team will review all registrations, and will individually approve OOS. While we need OOS to run the event, we also need to review how applicants will fit in with the team, roles, and skills needed.

Any questions?

PLEASE reach out to us below – we’d love to make sure that we answer any questions you may have.

We will do our best to make sure that you have as much fun as our Beavers at the event!
